A skating contest on the lake Mjøsa in the regions of Lillehammer-Gjøvik-Hamar will be organized 6. of February 2010.

The grand ice surface of lake Mjøsa is a natural multisport arena where we proudly reintroduce the art of skating. Thus we hereby invite you to skate Mjøsa at the Norwegian Skating Festival.

Vision

Norwegian skating

Norwegian Skating Festival at Lillehammer-Gjøvik-Hamar is meant to encourage people from all skating nations to engage in an exciting winter event and enjoy the fabulous winter season of Norway.

The event will contribute to recruit more skaters and multiply winter activities. Over years to come we plan on involving other ice-events in the 3 Olympic ice rinks located in the Gjøvik-Lillehammer-Hamar city-triangle

Background

The festival is an interregional collaboration project including the regions of Lillehammer, Gjøvik and Hamar.

The winter climate of the Norwegian inland proves stabile with reasonably low temperatures and dry snow. Frozen lakes are plentiful, and the biggest of all, Lake Mjøsa is a hitherto unused surface for people and fun. Introducing activities on the lake for local, national and international guests, simply facilitates awesome nature experiences combined with great exercise.
